About me

‘For me it’s always about capturing reality. The whole mayhem.’
I was born in Bavaria, Germany, but now live and work in Northwich, Cheshire and The Humberston Fitties in Lincolnshire. After studying English and French, I settled in the UK over 20 years ago teaching languages at secondary school level. Art has always been my passion though and in 2016 I decided to take the leap and do what I love. This led to a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in 2021. The rest is, as they say history, but a lot of history is still to be written. So bear with me please.
About my work
I often see myself more as storyteller than artist. Seeing the world through my neurodiverse brain, I have a predilection for non-linear narratives that convey a sense of the perpetual confusion I feel. Collage as such, is my favourite artistic medium. Initially adopted by Dadaists to celebrate innocence and playful randomness, it has the ability to intersect the real and the fantastical, the cuts and the tears, the stolen and the hidden. It disrupts and unites. Reflections on displacement and loss of control mingle with utopia and glitter.
I use a range of analogue and digital materials, magazine cut-outs and photography, again analogue and digital. During my residency at the University of Chester I began my journey into printmaking and digital creations, with both disciplines adding new dimensions to my work. All amalgamate with collected, pilfered, found, recycled, repurposed, reused and other more or less carefully selected objects and materials to develop a complex and surreal dynamic.
